In this Backyard Life video, NASCAR great Austin Dillon shares how grilling steaks lays at the heart of the Dillons’ perfect family cookout.
Most all backyard lifers tend to prepare their steaks differently, and the Dillons are no different. Austin almost always begins his grilling session using a marinade or rub. And, for this cook, he’s opting for a BBQ sauce marinade. To him, preparing steak for grilling is all about ensuring it’ll be flavorful and tasty.
Dillon’s Favorite Family Cookout Sides
Like most folks, Austin likes to accompany his steaks with a vegetable or two. Today, that means grilling corn on the cob. “My wife loves corn,” Austin says. You can either cook it shucked or with the husks on, he adds. Either way, try coating them with butter, then wrapping them individually in foil.
The Dillons have chosen to finish off this family cookout with some fresh-cut watermelon. “My son Ace likes the taste, and watermelon is going to be his “steak” for the day.”
